This guy was my hero for a good solid year, after I won my first (and only) chess tournament at around age 8 (against my whole K-8 school!) and again briefly after I saw Searching for Bobby Fischer. I realize now that I don’t know a thing about the guy. I guess when I was a kid it was OK just to idolize him just from the few pages I read about his brilliance, and his strong association with a game I loved. He was probably the coolest chess grand master of all time, too. NY Times - Bobby Fischer, Chess Master, Is Dead at 64P.S. Bobby was from Brooklyn!
