Saha. Period.

Hi. You can find out about me at sahadeva.com.

Also, check out my new projects, CollabFinder (a place for designers and developers to collaborate on awesome projects) and Rumplo (a palce for tees).

I live in Brooklyn.

Note to self: If you ever want to be a history-worthy scientist you must either A) grow a crazy beard B) grow a crazy mustache or C) have your photo taken at a three quarter profile.

p.s. how many of these genius scientist can you name?

No matter what kind of work you’re currently doing you might want to check out the job openings at The Brooklyn Brothers agency. So clever!

Their inveriator app is great, too (fill out the whole form if you’re curious).

Election recollections

cathyerway:

When the screen pronounced Obama the president-elect, everyone obviously went mad. Some people decided to get up on the stage and thrash their fists in the air and whatnot, and Saha dragged me toward the stage and then yanked me up by the arms, backstroke-style, until my feet were on the stage. Then everyone was quickly ushered off the stage. As we snaked through the crowd to get back to our party many random people hugged me fiercely (and randomly), with tears in their eyes.

That was pretty rad, if a bit awkward or even ill advised.  : P I actually danced for joy for a good five seconds before being kicked off! And I should say all the random people giving us hugs on the way back across BellHouse was touching. I don’t know why, but for a few seconds I was skeptical of these hugs, even though the first thing I wanted to do when I heard Obama had won was give everyone around me a bear hug and yell at the top of my lungs. After the first one, though, I was happy to give great hugs in return. I guess the lesson from Cathy and Chrysanthe’s posts is that hugs are great, and if throwing onself and your friend onto a stage in front of four hundred people is what it takes to get the best hugs from strangers you’ll ever get you should do it.

Thanks for posting your memories ladies.

Voting today was awesome. The lines were half way around the whole block at 7:30!

Seeing people’s tweets while I waited to pull the lever was great, and reminded me that quite a few of my friends have been doing good work, getting out the vote, talking about politics seriously. That’s quite a bit different from what I experienced in 2004. The enthusiasm people had during the few days I spent on the phone calling people in support of Obama, for example, will definitely stick with me a long time.

Way to go friends!

Our house’s cat, Stewart, died last weekend. I found myself perusing cat photos on flickr today and came across this spunky acrobat. Stewart was awesome in this way.

The Places We Live - an inspiring and well done slide show / feature by photographer Jonas Bendiksen.

Jonas explains, “The Places We Live was not a search for finding the absolute extremes of urban poverty—I wasn’t looking for the dirties spot, the poorest hovels or the most crime-ridden street corner. My task was to find how people normalize these dire situations. How they build dignity and daily lives in the midst of very challenging living conditions.” Interview with Jonas on the Magnum blog.

Factoids: Urban slums are the fastest growing human habitats on the planet. 2008 marks the first time in human history in which more people live in cities than in rural areas (much publicized in the beginning of the year).

What a great idea! ; )

Ah, lunch: whole wheat no-knead pizza dough, grilled eggplant, grape tomatoes, sliced onion, Gruyere, parsley and basil.

Man, Albert is a great photographer. And I must say those cookies were damn delicious, probably the best I ever made.

My good friend Ian and I launched our newest app, CollabFinder.com. It’s a place for designers and developers to find one another and make awesome stuff on the web. If you’ve got an idea for a great web project and are looking for a great designer or developer to work with this is the place to go. I hope you love it because it really loves you.

If you haven’t been to the Doughnut Plant you should hurry over, it’s incredibly delicious. The Indian-style Chai is insane, and the nearby park offers a perfect perch to watch weekend volleyball matches while you munch.

My morning donut: vanilla bean-glazed yeast donut filled with homemade plum jelly from Doughnut Plant (oh, and it’s square — “Just to be different.”). Owner and quasi-doughnut celebrity Mark Isreal tried to get Saha to help him with his website. He coldly refused.

Note From Grandma (for real)

  • Grandma: Is this still your email address? If it is, I have a question to ask.
  • Saha: Hi Grandma, Fire away, I'm at your disposal.
  • Grandma: Okay, Here goes: How's your sex life, or are you so tired of beautiful women that you can stay aloof? This may sound snoopy, but with everybody else having kids, I just got to wondering. Even I have been tempted recently, although it's against my religion.
